Today’s Quick Tip….

How to save a browser link to your computer’s desktop

If you’ve been using computers for a while you probably know that bookmarking frequently visited web pages in your browser will allow you to reopen those pages in the future with a single click.

But what if you know you’ll only need to revisit a page a few times, on a short-term basis?

Yes, you could always bookmark the page and then delete the bookmark when you know you won’t need to open the page again, but if you’re like me you’ll forget about it end up with a permanent bookmark that you’ll never use again.

What I do in situations like this is place a shortcut to the page right on my computer’s desktop. That way it’s always front and center where I’ll notice it so I can delete it after I’ve used it for the last time.

Creating a desktop shortcut to a web page is easy. Just follow the steps below:

1 – Open the page you want to create a shortcut for in your browser.

2 – Click on the little “lock” icon that’s located just to the left of the URL in the browser’s address bar and drag it onto an empty area of the desktop.

3 – Release the mouse button.

That’s all there is to it. You should now see your newly-created shortcut in the place where you “dropped” the link.

The next time you want to visit that same web page just double-click on the shortcut.

After you’ve visited that page for the last time and you know you’ll never need to click that shortcut again you can just delete it.
