Today’s Quick Tip….

Always connect your PC to a battery backup before updating firmware

If you ever need to update any type of firmware on your computer I strongly recommend that you connect the machine to a battery backup device before you initiate the update installation procedure.

The reason is simple…

If the power happens to go out before the firmware update is completely installed you could well end up bricking the machine.

While most modern motherboards provide a way to recover from incomplete firmware updates, some do not.

And even the ones that do are far from fool-proof.

And by the way, mobile devices can be bricked as well if the battery happens to die before a firmware update has finished being installed. That’s why I recommend that you always plug your smartphone, tablet or other device into a wall charger before you initiate any kind of update procedure.
