Question from Marie:  I have a two year old all-in-one Windows PC and its screen has just gone out.

This computer runs well and it has all my files on it so I’d like to keep using it if I can.

I’d really prefer a larger screen if that’s a viable option.

Is it possible to connect an external monitor to an all-in-one computer or will I need to just have the bad screen replaced?  [Read more…]

Question from Rita.:  My son has been wanting a nice gaming computer and I’m planning to buy him one for his 12th birthday.

Most people don’t give a second thought to the security of the Clipboard. After all, we rarely have anything stored in there can could be considered a security risk.

However, there are times when it might be wise to erase the contents of the Clipboard. Here are a couple of common examples:  [Read more…]

Opinion: Microsoft can’t seem to stop trashing their own reputation.

Posted on June 23, 2023

A while back I wrote a post explaining why I believe Microsoft’s Windows Update procedure needs a lot of work.

At the time I was hopeful they’d have their act together by now, but I’m afraid that simply isn’t the case.

Virtually every Windows Update they’ve released this year has been buggy and caused problems for a significant percentage of Windows users.

In short, the problem seems to be getting worse instead of better.
