Q&A: Is there an app to override the data cap on my Straight Talk phone?

Question from Erin: I have a Straight Talk phone and I have a question about the amount of data it’s using.

I always buy the $35 card and I often use up my 10GB of data several days before the month is over. I absolutely hate it when they switch my phone to slower speed.

My friend told me there’s an app that will let me bypass the data cap on my Straight Talk plan but he can’t remember the name of it. I searched the Google Play store high and low but couldn’t find it.

I think he might be just trying to pull one over on me. Am I right or is there really an app that will do this? [Read more…]

Question from Angie: I started dating a guy a few months ago. I really liked him but he had an annoying habit of picking up my phone and looking at my called logs.

I think he was checking up on me to see if I was calling other guys. I didn’t like him spying on me that way and I told him so, but he kept on doing it.

I finally put a PIN on my phone so he wouldn’t be able to get into it.

We recently broke up so I no longer need the PIN. The problem is it won’t let me remove it (that option is grayed out).

Q&A: How much faster is 4G LTE than 2G?

Question from Roberta L.: I closed my T-Mobile account yesterday and bought a Straight Talk phone because I wasn’t happy with the service I was getting from T-Mobile.

So far the Straight Talk service seems to be a lot better in my neck of the woods.

When I bought the new phone I also bought one of the cards for Straight Talk’s $35 plan.

Now I’m thinking that might have been a mistake because when I put the Straight Talk app on my new phone it said the first 3GB of data I use will be “high speed” 4G LTE but after that it’ll switch to 2G speed.

What exactly does that mean? Is there a huge difference in the speeds of 4G LTE and 2G? I do a lot of video streaming and I’m pretty sure I’ll use more than 3GB every month.

Straight Talk has raised the monthly data allotment for their $35 service plan to 3GB

Are you a Straight Talk cellular customer who uses their $35 monthly service plan?

If so, I have some great news for you…

Straight Talk has just increased your monthly allotment of high-speed (4G) data from 2GB per month to 3GB.

That’s a whopping 50% increase at no extra charge.

What’s more, the new 3GB threshold also applies to any service plans that your account already has on reserve!

Walmart to begin selling iPhone 5s and 5c for Straight Talk and Net 10 on December 13

If you have been wanting to buy either an iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c for use with your Straight Talk or Net 10 plan, you’ll soon have that option.

Tracfone (the parent company of both Straight Talk and Net 10) has just announced that both phones will be available for purchase and use with those plans beginning on December 13. [Read more…]
