By now you’re probably aware of the many fake gift card scams that are making the rounds on the Internet.
Well, now a very dangerous semi-offline version of that scam is making the rounds nationwide here in the United States once again.

Horrible events like hurricanes, tornados and the raging wildfires that are currently causing massive damage to parts of the Los Angeles area tend to bring out the very best in humanity.
Millions of generous individuals and companies typically donate billions of dollars in relief funds for the storm victims.
What’s more, armies of volunteers travel to the affected areas, with more waiting to go in just as soon as they receive approval from officials.
But unfortunately, natural disasters of this scale also tend to bring plenty of scammers of out of the woodwork.

Well, the Facebook scammers are at it again (as if they ever stop).
This time they’re out to take control of your Facebook account by tricking you into helping them change the password so they can log in to it.
I’ve received several requests for help from readers who had their accounts hijacked via this scam, and unfortunately there was nothing I could do to help in most of those situations.

As you probably know, responding to a fraudulent phishing email is an easy way to fall victim to a hacker and have your important online account(s) compromised.
The latest recurring phishing scheme to start making the rounds again is targeting AT&T customers.
Although the wording of the fraudulent emails vary a bit, they all warn you that if you don’t click the link in the email and “update your mailbox” your AT&T email account will be closed.
