Scam alert: Change your Google password ASAP if you’ve played this game on your Android device!

Posted on July 2, 2019

A recent discovery by the security firm Sophos is a great reminder that it’s wise to keep a close eye on the games and apps you install on your mobile devices.

Sophos’ researchers have discovered that an Android game called “Scary Granny ZOMBYE Mod: The Horror Game 2019” displays a fake Google logon screen that steals your Google login information.

ATTN Bloggers: Chrome is now flagging non-https pages as ‘Not Secure’ right in the address bar!

Posted on June 12, 2019

If you’re a blogger and your blog hasn’t yet been secured with SSL/TLS encryption you need to get that done ASAP!

Back in December 2017 I wrote this post warning bloggers about the need to get their blogs encrypted before Google started actively penalizing non-secured sites.

Well, that day has come…

Google recently rolled out an update to their Chrome browser that causes it to now flag unencrypted pages as “Not Secure” right in the address bar!

Update: There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding Google’s decision kill off their Google+ social media service.

If you have never used Google+ this change won’t affect you in any way. And if you don’t know exactly what Google+ is you have almost certainly never used it.

And this change won’t affect Gmail, YouTube, Google Search, Google Drive or any other Google service.

I will ONLY affect Google+ and nothing else.

How to restore the ‘View Image’ button on Google Images

Posted on July 13, 2018

A while back Google removed the “View Image” button from the photos they display on Google Images due to some kind of deal they made with Getty Images.

I don’t know about you but I really liked being able to view an image directly from Google’s own server instead of having to visit the original website just to check it out.

Why is this is important? Because it’s easy to download malware to your computer simply by visiting an untrusted website, even if it’s just to display an image that’s contained on one of the site’s pages.

Well, apparently lots of other folks really miss the “View Image” button as well because there’s now a fantastic browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that restores the missing button.

The extension is called “View Image” and it works like a champ. If you’d like to give it a try just follow the steps below that match your preferred web browser.  [Read more…]
