Yesterday I heard that using a URL shortener can cause a website to rank lower in the search engines.

Have you ever noticed how Facebook and Google pull in the first few lines of text from your blog posts and use that text as the “snippets” they display in the search results?
That’s not always a problem, but it can be a big one if the snippet contains text that doesn’t accurately describe the content of the post.
For example, if you always begin your blog posts with generic content such as an author bio, the first few lines of that bio will be displayed as the snippet in the Google search results and on Facebook for every post you write.
That means every post you publish will have the same snippet, and that snippet won’t do anything to accurately describe the content of the post and entice the reader to click the link and read the post on your blog.

Did you know that Google keeps a record of everything you have ever searched for via their Google search engine?
Well, they do, and unless you have already deleted your Search history at some point in the past it dates all the way back to the very first search you made on Google!
Truth be told, Google has always provided a way to delete your Search history IF you knew where to look. The thing is, it was always very hard to find.
Luckily, Google has now made it a lot easier to delete your Search history.
If you’re a blogger you surely know how important it is for your blog posts to rank well in Google.
After all, traffic is the engine that drives all success in blogging, and there’s simply no better source of traffic than Google’s organic search results.
