Q&A: I lost my phone. Can I remotely sign out of Gmail using a different device?

Posted on January 18, 2026

Question from Carrie:  I went to Costco this morning and when I got home my phone wasn’t in my purse.

I checked both my car and my apartment from one end to other and it just isn’t here.

Then I called Costco to see if anyone had found it and turned it in at the Service Desk, but they hadn’t.

I didn’t go anywhere else, just to Costco so that has to be where I lost it.

I’m not too concerned about the phone itself. It’s an older Straight Talk phone that I was planning to replace soon anyway.

The thing that worries me is my Gmail was open (I keep it that way, stupid me). I have a lot of sensitive info and photos in my emails that I really don’t want anyone else to see.

Is there a way to use my computer to remotely sign out of Gmail on the lost phone?

Question from Kenny:  I love your site man. Too cool!

I hope you can help me with a Gmail question.

I have over 7000 messages in my Gmail Inbox and about as many in my “Sent Mail” folder.

I’d like to wipe out all those old messages and start fresh, but it would take forever to go through there and delete them a page at a time.

My question is do you know of a way to delete all of my Gmail messages at once? [Read more…]

Have you ever clicked the “Send” button after composing an email and immediately realized that you had sent the message to the wrong person?

Or perhaps you have sent an angry response to an email, only to regret it just as soon as you clicked “Send”?

Things like this happen to most of us at times, and it’s never a good feeling when they do.

Luckily, Gmail has a nifty feature called “Undo Send” that gives you up to 30 seconds to change your mind after clicking the “Send” button.  [Read more…]

Question from Gabe:  I recently retired after a long career in public service and I’m planning to start a second career as a professional photographer.

I’ve already lined up a few shoots through word-of-mouth but I’m planning to put up a business page on Facebook and have some business cards printed to promote my photography services.

The question I have is do I need a private email address (something like [email protected] where example.com is my own domain name) or will a Gmail address suffice?

Switching email providers might feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been using Outlook for years. But whether you’re looking for a more user-friendly experience, better integration with Google services, or just a fresh start, moving to Gmail can be a great choice.

Personally, I just like the freedom of using a web-based email system that can be used from any device, at any time.

The good news? You don’t have to be a tech expert to make the switch. This guide will walk you through each step. We’ll keep things simple, clear, and to the point – so you can move to Gmail with confidence and ease.  [Read more…]
