Like many new bloggers I wanted my first blog to look amazing and have tons of bells and whistles.

For example, I installed a fancy slider that would display an image and snippet from a post, then fade out after a few seconds and “tease” the next post.

I ran some page speed tests on my blog and found out that it takes almost 8 seconds for my home page to finish loading.

I know I need to make my pages load faster but I don’t know what else to try.

I’ve already removed all but the most important images from my posts and cut the number of WordPress plugins from 37 down to 24.

I keep hearing the terms “website” and “web page” and I find them a little confusing. Is there a difference between the two or do they both mean the same thing?
