If it seems like the battery in your Android phone lasts about as long as a bowl of ice cream on a hot summer day, you aren’t alone.

Short battery life is one of the most common issues that we’re likely to encounter with our smart phones.

As phones have gotten thinner, faster, brighter and more powerful, their ability to drain a battery dry has increased right along with their technological advances.

If you know you’re going to be in a situation where your phone’s battery charge is likely to run low and shut off your phone before you’ll have a chance to plug it into a charger, here are a few tips for keeping your phone up and running as long as possible:  [Read more…]

My favorite app for speeding up an Android phone

Posted on September 8, 2022

If you’ve had an Android phone for a while, you’ve probably noticed that it’s slower and less responsive than it was when you first bought it.

Posted on January 20, 2013

roam-controlIf you’re a Sprint customer with an Android phone it’s a good bet that you sometimes find yourself in places where the Sprint signal is so weak that it’s unusable, yet just strong enough to prevent the phone from roaming, even when there is a strong roaming signal available. And if you’re like me, you don’t like it one bit.

Because Sprint doesn’t want to have to pay other carriers for allowing you to use their cell towers. Forcing their customers to remain on the Sprint network unless there is no Sprint signal available whatsoever saves the company a lot of money over the course of a month. [Read more…]

Posted on January 12, 2013

whoareyouDo you hate getting calls from “Unknown Number” or texts from phone numbers you don’t recognize? Do you ever wish you could block a phone number from ever calling or texting you again? Well, you’re in luck if you have an Android based smart phone.

A free App called WhoAreYou puts you in control of who is or isn’t allowed to call or text you, and it lets you know who is calling or texting even if that person isn’t on your contact list. Pretty nifty, huh?

If you receive a call or text from someone you simply don’t want to ever hear from again (i.e. your ex, a telemarketer, etc.) just tap the “Ditch” button and they’ll be history (at least as far as your phone is concerned). [Read more…]
