Updates to Windows 10 on older PCs have slowed to a trickle

As you probably know, Microsoft has become extremely aggressive with their attempts to push the free Windows 10 upgrade onto reluctant Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users.

Since its official release in July 2015, Windows 10 has gained market share at a healthy clip each and every month as users decided to take advantage of the free upgrade deal while it was still available.

But apparently users weren’t upgrading fast enough to meet Microsoft’s long-term goals, so they decided to change the Windows Update procedure to make the update to Windows 10 virtually automatic. [Read more…]

Security alert: Update Google Chrome now to fix 9 security bugs

Google has just released an important security update for their popular Chrome web browser, and I recommend that you install it right away.

This update patches a total of nine different security bugs, some of which are classified as high risk.

As you probably know, Chrome is currently the most popular browser in use today, and that makes it a big target for hackers.

Scam alert: Beware the ‘Marlboro Giveaway’ scam on Facebook

scam Another day, another Facebook scam. This one features a fake Marlboro coupon that’s supposedly good for two free cartons of Marlboro brand cigarettes.

The coupon looks real enough, but if you click on it you won’t be directed to the official Marlboro website.

Instead, you’ll end up on a fake website that could infect your computer with malware and/or trick you into giving a hacker your personal and financial information.
