Q&A: Can I get a closed Facebook account reinstated without sending them my ID?

Posted on June 16, 2020

Question from Catherine:  I have a big problem Rick. I clicked a link in a Facebook post and it must have infected my account with a virus because it immediately started sending out SPAM messages.

To be exact, the virus sent a spam message to everyone on my friends list. When I found out about it I changed my password, and everything seemed to be ok.

A few days later, I got married and changed my name on Facebook to my new last name. The next day Facebook deactivated my account.

Now Facebook wants to see a copy of my ID before they’ll reinstate my account.

The thing is I REALLY don’t want to give my drivers license out, especially since I’m not even positive that the message requesting to see it was even sent from Facebook.

Is there some way to get my Facebook account reinstated with just my cell phone number? Thanks.

How to add a tile for the ‘Run’ command to the Start Menu in Windows 10

If you have Windows 10 on your computer, you might have noticed that the Start Button and Start Menu are back after taking a short hiatus with Windows 8.

One important thing that’s missing on the Windows 10 Start Menu however is a menu option for opening a “Run” box.

Well, there’s actually a way to open a “Run” box from the Start menu but it’s buried two levels deep in the “Windows System” section, and that makes opening a simple Run box more time-consuming than it should be.

Of course you can always quickly open a Run box by pressing the Windows+R key combination (that’s the way I always do it), but some folks prefer having it right on the Start Menu.

If you’re one of them, you can easily add a “Run” tile to the Start Menu on your Windows 10 PC. Here’s how: [Read more…]

Q&A: How do I make an external monitor my laptop’s main display in Windows 10?

Posted on June 14, 2020

Question from Candice W.:  I just bought a 23″ flat screen monitor to use with my Dell laptop.

The laptop has Windows 10 on it.

I connected the monitor to the laptop with an HDMI cable, but when I load programs they still show up on the laptop screen.

I’d like to make the external monitor the main screen. How do I set it up like that?
