As you probably know, every generation of technological innovations packs more power into ever smaller packages.

One prime example is the wide array of mini-PCs that recently began to flood the computer market.

I love testing and reviewing these machines so I was pleased when I recently received an Azulle Inspire i5 Fanless Mini PC for review.

After all was said and done I came away quite impressed. [Read more…]

Q&A: Can I use TeamViewer to play games on my gaming PC while I’m away from home?

Posted on December 27, 2020

Note: The links in this post are affiliate links.

Question from Brett P.:  I recently bought a gaming PC and it performs awesomely well on my favorite games.

My problem is I travel frequently for work and I can’t take the gaming machine with me.

I also have a Dell Latitude business notebook that’s supplied by my company that I use when I’m on the road.

I know this laptop is capable of running my games but I’m not allowed to install them on it (company rules).

Do you think I can use TeamViewer to remotely play games on the desktop back at home over the Internet using the laptop in a hotel room?

Q&A: How do I open a PDF document on my phone?

Posted on December 26, 2020

Question from Barry:  I need to do some maintenance on my leaf blower so I downloaded the owner’s manual to my phone.

The file downloaded just fine but when I try to open it I get an error message saying there’s no app for opening PDF files on my device.

What am I doing wrong? I really need to open this file so I can work on my leaf blower.

Q&A: What exactly does it mean to be ‘shadow banned’ on Twitter?

Posted on December 22, 2020

Question from Estelle:  I have a question for you, Rick. I keep hearing about people having their Twitter accounts “shadow banned”.

I don’t know exactly what that means but I’m wondering if maybe my account has been shadow banned.

I used to receive dozens of new followers every day but I’ve only received three over the past two weeks. And hardly anyone likes or re-tweets my tweets anymore. They used to do it all the time.

Can you tell me exactly what shadow banning is? And how can I tell for sure if my account is shadow banned?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Q&A: How can I check my computer’s RAM for problems?

Posted on December 22, 2020

Question from Mac G.:  I have a four year old Acer laptop that recently started crashing to blue screens at random times.

A first it would only happen about once or twice a month but now they’re popping up at least once a day.

I thought it might be a software issue so I followed your instructions for resetting Windows 10 but that didn’t help. The blue screens continued popping up even with no programs installed.

My next thought is maybe my computer has a RAM chip that went bad.

First of all, what are your thoughts about the possibility of bad RAM being the problem?

And second, if you do suspect a RAM problem how’s the best way to check the RAM to see if it’s in fact bad?
