Q&A: Can you recommend a good, lightweight and free antivirus app?

Posted on March 10, 2021

Question from Oliver P.: I need some advice for choosing an antivirus app for an older computer.

I have a Dell desktop PC with Windows 7 on it. This machine came with a pair of 2GB RAM sticks installed for a total of 4GB of RAM.

One of the RAM sticks went bad so I removed it.

I not going to replace the bad RAM stick because I’m planning to just use this computer offline for various things since Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows 7.

Q&A: Why is the screen in my MacBook Pro not working?

Posted on March 10, 2021

Question from Angela S.:  I hope you can help me with a computer problem, Rick.

I have a 2016 model 15″ MacBook Pro that has always worked perfectly till last night.

When I turned it on this morning the screen stayed black. Everything else seems to be working.

I tried closing and opening the lid a few times and turning the machine off and on but it always stays black.

Do you think the screen is bad? If it is how much will it cost to get it fixed?

I really can’t afford to spend too much due to my current financial situation.

As you probably know by now, replacing the hard drive in your laptop with an SSD is an easy way to put your machine into overdrive.

Simply put, Solid State Drives are virtual speed demons when compared to even the fastest spinning hard drives.

But unfortunately, those wishing to make this awesome upgrade faced a problem…

Making the switch from a slow spinning hard drive to a speedy SSD meant giving up a ton of storage space.

Well, guess what? That problem has virtually disappeared.

How to select a block of text on a Windows tablet

Posted on March 6, 2021

I’ve been answering questions on here for several years now, and as you might expect some questions tend to get asked over and over on there.

For example, I recently answered the following question (for the third time) over there:

“How can I select text to copy using a Windows tablet?”
