Today’s quick tech tip….

How to enable ‘Low Power Mode’ on your MacBook

If you have a recent MacBook or MacBook Pro (early 2016 or later) that’s running macOS 12 Monterey, you can enable a special “Low Power Mode” that will make the machine’s battery charge last longer.

This can really come in handy if your MacBook’s battery has a habit of running out of juice before you have an opportunity to plug it into a charger.

Before we go any further, there are a couple of caveats you need to be aware of:

1 – Low Power Mode cannot be enabled on any MacBook Air model.

2 – While your MacBook is in Low Power Mode your screen will be dimmer than usual and your applications will run a little slower than normal.

With that out of the way, if your MacBook is capable of operating in Low Power Mode, here’s how to turn it on when you need it:

1 – Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen.

2 – Click System Preferences.

3 – Click the Battery icon.

4 – Click the Battery link in the left-hand pane.

5 – Check the box beside “Low power mode”.

That’s all there is to it. Your MacBook should now be in Low Power Mode.

Note: To disable Low Power Mode simply repeat the steps listed above and uncheck the box you checked in step 5.
