How to quickly find the mouse pointer on a cluttered PC screen

Like many other computer users, you might have your PC’s screen more or less covered with desktop icons, shortcuts and all manner of miscellaneous clutter.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, mind you. It’s your screen and you can use it any way that suits your fancy.

That being said, having lots of “stuff” covering the screen can make it difficult to find the mouse pointer at times.

Well, I’m going to tell you about a handy Windows feature that will help you locate the mouse pointer in a flash.

In a nutshell, once this setting is turned on you’ll be able to quickly find the location of the mouse pointer with the help of your keyboard’s Ctrl key.

I could try to describe how this works, but truth be told, it’s better if you just see it in action. Here’s how to enable (and use) this super-handy setting:

1 – Click the Start button and type the word mouse.

2 – Select Mouse settings from the list of search results.

3 – If you’re using Windows 11, click Additional mouse settings.

If you’re using Windows 10, click Additional mouse options.

4 – In the dialog box that just popped up, select the Pointer Options tab.

5 – Check the box beside Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key.

6 – Click the OK button.

That’s all there is to it. The relevant setting has been turned on.

You can now press the Ctrl key on your keyboard to see the “mouse pointer locator” in action.

Pretty cool, right?
