Today’s quick tech tip….

Master password to LastPass’ own corporate vault stolen by hacker

If you’re one to pay attention to the news, you probably heard about the massive LastPass hack that took place a while back.

That one was pretty bad, but guess what? A second successful hack resulted in the hacker stealing the master password to LastPass’ own corporate vault.

How was this incredible password breach accomplished? With a simple keylogger app like the ones that are used by numerous hackers every single day.

In a nutshell, the hacker planted a keylogger app on a LastPass employee’s home computer, who then used the keylogger to intercept the master password as the employee typed it.

Now here’s the kicker: According to this report from Ars Technica, the employee in question is only one of four employees in the entire company that had been entrusted with the master password to LastPass’ corporate vault.

It all boils down to this: If hackers can manage to steal such an important master password from one of the most trusted security engineers at LastPass, is the master password to your password manager truly safe? Just something to think about.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, to drive the point home…

Using ANY password manager puts your entire digital and financial life at risk. Just sayin’.
