Amazon raises the threshold for free Super Saver shipping from $25 to $35

Posted on October 25, 2013

Update: Amazon has dropped the threshold for free shipping back down to $25 since this post was written.

The original post continues below…

Amazon was the first online retailer to find a way to make money and build a sustainable Internet-based business, and today they are the largest online retailer in the world. And they are also my favorite online retailer, for a couple of reasons:

1 – They offer extremely competitive prices on virtually everything they sell (and they sell virtually everything!).

2 – They offer free shipping on orders that meet the requirements of their Super Saver shipping program.  [Read more…]

Unlock the door to your house by simply touching the deadbolt!

Posted on October 21, 2013

kwikset-kevoHave you ever had to put down the load of grocery bags you were carrying in order to fumble through your pocket or purse in search of your house key? Even worse, have you ever found yourself standing on the outside of a locked door because you forgot to take your keys with you when you left?

Of course we all have at one time or another, but the awesome Kwikset Kevo Bluetooth Deadbolt makes such misfortunes a thing of the past.

In case you haven’t heard, the powers that be in Washington decided that since there is currently no funding for the USDA, the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (Noah) and other “non-essential” government departments, their websites would need to be shut off.

The only problem with this thinking? It cost those departments more to take their sites offline than it would have cost to simply leave them up with all updates temporarily suspended!  [Read more…]

Posted on August 15, 2013

windows-8-1If you purchased a new PC with Windows 8 pre-installed or upgraded an existing computer to Windows 8 from a previous version, chances are you are unhappy with Microsoft’s new operating system. Well, there’s light at the end of the tunnel, and the end of the tunnel is rapidly approaching.

I wrote a post a while back explaining how Windows 8.1 would eventually be released as a free upgrade to make Windows 8 work more like Windows 7. Thankfully, we now know when “eventually” will be.  [Read more…]
