Q&A: Strange posts are being published on my blog without my permission. How can I stop it?

Posted on February 1, 2021

Question from Melvin:  I have a “health and wellness” blog that I’ve been writing for over four years now. It runs on WordPress.

I write several new posts each week and the blog now has over a thousand posts on it.

About a month ago I paid a guy to make some updates to the blog to make it more attractive and add a couple of new features that I’d seen on other blogs.

With my permission he ended up changing the blog to a new theme (Divi). Now I have a big problem that I hope you can help me with.

Q&A: How do I copy the photos from my iPhone to a Windows PC?

Question from Kellie:  I dropped my three year old iPhone 7 Plus and cracked the screen.

The phone still works but parts of the screen are unreadable.

I’ve never really been happy with this phone so I’m just going to replace it with an Android phone when I get paid next week.

My question is how can I copy the photos I’ve taken with the iPhone onto a Lenovo laptop that has Windows 10 on it?

Q&A: Why did Google remove the word ‘Secure’ from Chrome’s address bar?

Posted on January 13, 2021

Question from Mike:  Chrome used to display the word “Secure” in the address bar to indicate that the webpage you’re viewing is encrypted.

I really liked that because I didn’t have to worry about hackers stealing my info if I typed anything into a form on that page.

A while back I noticed that Google has removed that “Secure” indicator from Chrome’s address bar.

Why on earth did they get rid of it?

Q&A: Will keeping a PC inside a closed compartment cause it to overheat?

Posted on January 8, 2021

Question from Shauna:  I hope you will answer a question for me, Rick.

My business partner bought a new desk for her office. It’s really nice because it has lots of handy storage areas.

One of those storage areas is the perfect size to hold her desktop computer tower. I believe it was designed to hold a computer because there’s a hole to route the cables through in the back.

Q&A: Can I use TeamViewer to play games on my gaming PC while I’m away from home?

Question from Brett P.:  I recently bought a gaming PC and it performs awesomely well on my favorite games.

My problem is I travel frequently for work and I can’t take the gaming machine with me.

I also have a Dell Latitude business notebook that’s supplied by my company that I use when I’m on the road.

I know this laptop is capable of running my games but I’m not allowed to install them on it (company rules).

Do you think I can use TeamViewer to remotely play games on the desktop back at home over the Internet using the laptop in a hotel room?
