Today’s featured tech tip….

How to set up Windows 11 for a user with impaired vision

If you know someone with a vision impairment, chances are they struggle with using a computer in the usual way.

Luckily, Windows 11 comes with some handy accessibility features that can make it easier for many vision impaired users to more better control and use their PCs.

In a nutshell, these features allow the user to complete common tasks by speaking and listening, while minimizing, and even potentially eliminating the need to use the mouse and keyboard.

Here’s how to enable these special features:

1 – Click the Start button to open the Start menu.

2 – Type the words control panel and click on Control Panel after that option appears in the list of search results.

3 – Click Ease of Access.

4 – Click Ease of Access Center.

5 – Scroll down and click Use the computer without a display.

6 – Check the boxes beside Turn on Narrator and Turn on Audio Description.

7 – Click the Apply button.

8 – Click the Set up Text to Speech link.

9 – Select the Text to Speech tab and make any changes that you need to make, then click the Apply button.

10 – Select the Speech Recognition tab and check all the boxes in the “User Settings” section.

11 – Make any other changes that you need to make, then click the Apply and OK buttons.

12 – Click the OK button to exit the main Settings dialog.
