How to reset your password on a Windows PC

If you have your PC set up to require a password in order to sign in so you can use the machine, there might come a time when you’ll need to change your existing password to a different one.

For example, someone else might know your password and you want to change it to prevent them from signing in and using your computer.

Or perhaps you have a weak password and you’d like to change it to a stronger one.

Regardless of why you might want to change your password, it’s very easy to do in both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Just follow the steps below:

1 – Click the Start button to display the Start menu.

2 – Start typing the word password and then select Change your password after it appears in the list of search results.

3 – Click Password, then follow the prompts as they appear.

That’s it. Pretty simple, right?
