Q&A: Does Windows really have its own built-in antivirus?

Question from Marge:  I just bought a new laptop with Windows 10 on it and I want to make sure it’ll be safe from viruses.

I definitely want to protect my computer from viruses but I don’t want to pay for a program I don’t need either.

I uninstalled it from my computer last night and now I can’t get Windows Defender to start up. Is there something else I need to do besides just uninstalling the Emsisoft program?
