Question from Phillip:  I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and you often mention creating “System Image” backups.

Are these just regular backups or is there something different about them?

Q&A: Can I put more than one System Image Backup on the same drive?

Posted on January 12, 2023

Question from Juliene:  Hello, Rick. I’m a long time reader of your blog and I’ve read your posts about making System Image backups with Windows.

Your instructions are very good and easy to follow.

I’ve made three backups so far for my laptop but I just noticed that there’s only one backup on my external hard drive. I’m assuming it’s the last one I made?

My question is can I store more than one backup on the same drive? [Read more…]

How to force Windows to create a new System Restore Point every day

Posted on December 19, 2022

System Restore is a handy tool that you can use to restore your PC’s Windows installation back to a previous (working) state if a virus or some other issue causes your computer to stop working as it should.

What happened was I downloaded a couple of torrent files last Tuesday and now my Windows 10 computer is all messed up.

I tried doing a System Restore back to the previous Monday, but the oldest Restore Point I see is from 4 days ago. Is there a way to create one for last Monday?  [Read more…]

Question from Stephanie:  I’m the office manager for a medium-sized wholesale floral distributor.

Including myself, we have nine people working in our office, and each of us have identical Dell Business desktop computers.

These computers came with Windows 7 Pro but I upgraded all of them to Windows 10 bit back when the upgrade was free.

I’ve been creating weekly System Image backups for each computer but I just learned that I need to create a System Repair Disc too so if anything happens I’ll be able to boot the PC to the Recovery Options screen.

My question is do I need to create a separate System Repair Disc for each of the nine computers or will the same one work for all of them?  [Read more…]
