Posted on January 21, 2014

chrome-os-logoHave you ever noticed the little arrows at the top and bottom of your web browser’s vertical scroll bar? Clicking and holding one of those arrows will cause the current web page to scroll up or down, but if you don’t use them you might not even realize they are there.

Well guess what? If you update Google Chrome to version 32 you’ll discover that the scroll arrows have been removed.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Can I use a regular USB keyboard with my Surface RT?

Posted on January 21, 2014

surface-rtQuestion from Hannah G.:  I have a Surface RTand I’ve been wanting to buy a keyboard for it, but they’re a little pricey. And they don’t look all that well made either.

I noticed today that the RT has a full size USB port. Can I just buy a cheap USB keyboard that’s made for a PC and plug it into it?

Q&A: How do I reset a Droid Ultra back to the factory settings?

Posted on January 20, 2014

droid-ultraQuestion from Adrianna:  I bought my daughter a Droid Ultra for Christmas, and she has already downloaded so much stuff onto it that it’s become unstable, and at times completely unresponsive.

I tried uninstalling a bunch of the apps, but that didn’t help. Most of the ones that are still on there came pre-installed on the phone, and it won’t let me delete them.

I’d like to just reset the phone back to its factory settings, but she has already lost the instruction book. Can you tell me how to reset it?

adobe-flash-player-logoQuestion from Tammy C.:  About 4 or 5 days ago I tried to update my Flash Player from the Adobe website. It started downloading, but it never finished.

I finally gave up and figured I’d try again the next day. I’ve tried installing it every day since then but it always hangs in the middle of the download.

Can you tell me what I need to do to get the Flash Player updated on my computer? It’s running Windows 7 Home Edition.

Posted on January 19, 2014

atmBy now you’re probably aware that Microsoft is planning to stop supporting Windows XP with security updates on April 8, effectively leaving the millions of computers that are still running it after that date wide open to hackers.

What you probably don’t know is that approximately 95% of the 420,000 ATMs currently being used in the U.S. are running Windows XP!

While a large percentage of those Windows XP-based ATMs can be updated with newer hardware components that will allow them to be upgraded to Windows 7, many of them will simply have to be replaced outright.

But there’s a problem…  [Read more…]
