Q&A: How do I split long posts into multiple pages in WordPress?

Posted on January 22, 2023

Question from Rita:  I have a question about WordPress is you don’t mind.

My daughter helped me set up a blog and I’m just now beginning to get the hang of things. I have a question though.

I see on other blogs where they have long posts split up into multiples pages with a link at the bottom to click to go to the next page. I’d like to do that on some of my own posts because they tend to be pretty long.

How do I split my posts up like that?  [Read more…]

Q&A: Is it normal to have numerous lsass.exe processes running at once?

Posted on January 20, 2023

Question from Pete:  Every now and then I open the Task Manager on my Windows 11 laptop and quickly scan the running processes just to make sure there’s nothing out of the ordinary running.

I hopped out of bed this morning, turned on my laptop and did one of those checks. I was surprised to see there were numerous lsass.exe processes running when there’s usually only one.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Why do Facebook and Twitter remove the location info from my photos?

Posted on January 18, 2023

Question from Jeremy:  I’m a professional photographer and I use Facebook and Twitter to showcase some of my best images to potential customers.

I’ve noticed that those services automatically strip the location metadata from every photo as it’s being uploaded.

The metadata in my photos is important because it contains some really important info, including the location where the photo was taken.  [Read more…]

Question from David:  I recently bought a refurbished Dell desktop computer that came with 8GB of RAM installed. I want to double that to 16GB.

I ran the “Crucial System Scanner” you mentioned in this post and it said the machine can use up to 64GB of DDR4-2133 RAM.

I found an 8GB DDR4-2133 RAM stick on Ebay for less than half of what Crucial is selling them for so I bought it. I received the new RAM just 3 days after I ordered it but it won’t fit into one of the empty RAM sockets on the computer.

Do you think the problem is an error in the info I got from the System Scanner? [Read more…]

How to control a hard-wired light fixture with your phone

A while back I wrote a post explaining how to use a WeMo Mini Smart Plug to remotely control most anything you can plug into an electrical outlet.

I received a lot of feedback from that post, and several readers asked if there’s a way to control a hard-wired light fixture with a smart phone as well.  [Read more…]
