How to block adult-oriented videos on YouTube

Posted on January 17, 2024

As you probably know, YouTube hosts billions of videos on pretty much every topic under the sun, and the vast majority of them can be viewed at any time for free.

This is why I wrote a post a while back explaining why YouTube is one of the best sites on the Internet for helping you quickly learn how to do something you’ve never done before.

As you also probably know, many of the videos on YouTube contain some type of “adult” subject matter that you might not want to see – or allow your kids to see.

How (and why) to ‘Memorialize’ a deceased loved one’s Facebook account

Posted on January 17, 2024

When a loved on passes on, there are many issues that the deceased’s loved ones must deal with, some of which must be dealt with in a hurry.

Question from Larry:  I remember reading something a while back about using two SSDs instead of one to speed up a computer but I can’t remember the details.

I was in a hurry when I read it so I didn’t pay as much attention as I should have.

I think it had something to do with putting Windows and the installed programs on one SSD and all the data files on the other one.

Can you fill me in on the details?  [Read more…]

How (and when) to disable cellular data on your Android phone

Posted on January 16, 2024

I recently wrote this post explaining how to disable cellular data on your iPhone in order to avoid going over your monthly data limit.

In a nutshell, turning off cellular data prevents your phone from sending Internet data to and receiving Internet data from a cell tower when there’s no Wi-Fi signal available or if the available Wi-Fi network is weak.

Several folks wrote in to ask me if Android users can disable cellular data on their phones as well.  [Read more…]

Reminder: Getting a new device doesn’t mean you need a new Facebook account

Have you ever noticed that some Facebook users have multiple accounts?

While some of these duplicate accounts are due to the rampant epidemic of account cloning fraud, many duplicate accounts were actually created by the legitimate account holder because they think they need to open a new account every time they get a new computer, phone or tablet.

But truth be told, getting a new device doesn’t mean you’ll need a new Facebook account because your account isn’t tied to any specific device.  [Read more…]
