Why you should avoid using your phone in public places during this Coronavirus ordeal

Posted on April 2, 2020

Right now many of us are on virtual lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but there are times when it’s still necessary to venture out to a public place.

After all, we do have to eat and perform other essential tasks.

You’re probably well aware of the social distancing guidelines we’ve been asked to follow, but there’s another danger that you might not have thought about: your phone!

Q&A: How much faster is 4G LTE than 2G?

Posted on March 10, 2020

Question from Roberta L.:  I closed my T-Mobile account yesterday and bought a Straight Talk phone because I wasn’t happy with the service I was getting from T-Mobile.

So far the Straight Talk service seems to be a lot better in my neck of the woods.

When I bought the new phone I also bought one of the cards for Straight Talk’s $35 plan.

What exactly does that mean? Is there a huge difference in the speeds of 4G LTE and 2G? I do a lot of video streaming and I’m pretty sure I’ll use more than 3GB every month.

When Microsoft first released Windows 10 it included an integrated digital assistant called Cortana.

They desperately wanted Cortana to become a strong competitor to Apple’s Siri, and to that end they quickly released a Cortana mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

Well, as they say, things didn’t quite go as planned because Cortana never really took off in the non-Windows world.

Schedule text messages to be sent at a later time with your Android phone

Posted on November 11, 2019

Have you ever wished you could schedule a text message to be sent at a future date and time?

I have, and there are plenty of situations where such a capability would come in handy.

For example, let’s say you have a friend whose birthday is coming up in a few days and you want to make sure you don’t forget to send him a “Happy Birthday” text.

Or perhaps you need to remind your wife about an upcoming doctor appointment but you’re afraid you might forget about it yourself before the appointment date arrives.  [Read more…]
