The FBI has posted this warning about scammers stealing photos from innocent victims’ social media profiles and using them to blackmail and/or otherwise extort money and other things of value from them.
Once a scammer has downloaded a victim’s photos they use artificial intelligence (AI) to create fake explicit photos and videos based upon the photos stolen from the victim’s profile.
These “deep fake” images and videos are so realistic the average person is likely to believe they are real. [Read more…]
