Review: Lexar JumpDrive S33 USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Posted on March 28, 2014

16gb-lexar-jumpdrive-s33Most of us who are old enough to remember the days of the floppy disk have a special appreciation for modern USB flash drives. It used to take a large stack of “floppies” to hold just a few really large files, and those floppies were susceptible to all kinds of problems that are virtually unheard of nowadays.

The invention of the USB flash drive solved virtually all of the problems that plagued the floppy disk, including the big one: extremely limited storage capacity. In fact, I saw an ad just a short while ago for a USB flash drive that can store up to 512GB of data!

There are several companies that manufacture and sell flash memory devices, and one that I have always liked is Lexar.  [Read more…]

Review: MPOW Knight Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Headset Headphone with Charging Dock

Posted on March 19, 2014

mpow-bluetooth-headsetIf you need to use your mobile phone in situations where you also need to use both hands, a bluetooth headset is one of the best solutions available today. But the problem with quality bluetooth headsets has always been their cost.

There are indeed “cheap” headsets on the market, and in most most cases you get exactly what you pay for. But I recently had the opportunity to try out a very economical bluetooth headset/docking station combo from MPOW that won’t cost you an arm and a leg, yet offers outstanding performance.

I received the MPOW Knight Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Headset Headphone with Charging Dock for review last week, and to be honest I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular given its low discounted price on Amazon. But after taking it out of the box and giving it a try, I was rather impressed to say the least.  [Read more…]

Some say that there is something of an art to troubleshooting and repairing computers, but coming to a quick and accurate conclusion really boils down to knowing which checks to make for a given issue, and in what order.

Most experienced computer technicians know how to go about finding and fixing most any problem in a timely, efficient manner, but those just starting out are likely to rely on the “shotgun” approach to troubleshooting which results in lots of wasted time and wasted parts.

Ugreen Nexode 4-Port 100W GaN USB-C Charger

This compact Gan charger is very easy to travel with yet it will charge up to four devices at once, including your laptop.

It will fast-charge a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. It will also charge Lenovo and Dell laptops at their normal charging speed.

And of course it will charge your smartphone, tablet and most any other portable devices you might own.

In my humble opinion this could very well be the perfect wall charger.
