Question from Michael: Hi, Rick. I look forward to getting your newsletter every morning. I’m fairly tech savvy but I almost always learn something new.
I susbscribe to several other Substack newsletters in addition to yours and I’ve noticed something. In every case the newsletter homepage resembles a blog.
What I mean is all the old newsletter issues are listed there so people can read them online as articles.
So that brings me to my question: Is Substack primarily a newsletter platform or a blogging platform? [Read more…]
If you write a blog, there are probably times when it would be nice to be able to give a blog post or page an expiration date.
For example, lets say you write a post featuring a special you’ll be running for a limited time.
Wouldn’t it be rather handy to have the post automatically expire (and disappear) at the same time the offer expires to ensure that it doesn’t keep extending an offer to readers that’s no longer valid? [Read more…]
Do you own a blog or some other type of website?
If so, you should know that it’s a very dangerous practice to assign control of your domain name and/or website content to a third party.
If you allow someone else to take control of those vital assets, you just might have a very difficult time regaining control of them if your relationship with that person or company goes south.

Question from Diane: Hi, Rick. Maybe it’s just me, but as a fairly new subscriber, I have been going through all your tip pages, one by one.
Of course, there’s no way to read all 700+ plus pages in one sitting since there are 6 posts on each page, so I’ve been going through a few a day.
The thing is, it’s really hard to pick up where I left off on a certain page after constantly clicking “Next Page”.
If there’s a fairly simple way for you to add a feature to go to a specific page…. for other OCD’s / newbies like me, it would really be appreciated. Or, then again, maybe I am missing an easier way to do it? [Read more…]
