Data breach prompts Spotify to advise users to change their passwords and update their Android apps

spotify-logoPopular music service Spotify has announced that their servers have been breached by hackers, but they seem to believe that there is little for their users to worry about.

This attack is the latest in a spurt of hacks that have plagued a number of online services and brick and mortar retail chains in recent months.

Unlike the recent Target and eBay hacks, the Spotify breach appears to be relatively minor. The company says no personal or financial customer info was accessed, but they do recommend that users change their passwords as a precaution.

They also recommend that users of the Spotify Android app log into the Google Play Store and update the app right away. Be aware that updating the Spotify app will require you to re-download any offline playlists that you might be using.

I hope you’ll consider sharing this post on Facebook and Twitter in order to help spread the word about this breach as quickly as possible. Thanks.
