Posted on November 2, 2020

Well, the scammers and hoaxsters never seem to take a break from Facebook and it’s companion Messenger app. It seems like a new one starts making the rounds virtually every day.

The latest hoax to come to my attention is being spread primarily by Messenger.

The text of the hoax messages vary, but they usually read something like this: [Read more…]

5 tips for enhancing the security of your Facebook account

Posted on October 2, 2020

It seems like much of this past week was spent answering various questions about Facebook, so I thought I would pass along a few links to some of the posts I referred to in my responses.

With that in mind, here are five things you can do to make your Facebook account as secure as possible: [Read more…]

Q&A: Can I get a closed Facebook account reinstated without sending them my ID?

Posted on June 16, 2020

Question from Catherine:  I have a big problem Rick. I clicked a link in a Facebook post and it must have infected my account with a virus because it immediately started sending out SPAM messages.

To be exact, the virus sent a spam message to everyone on my friends list. When I found out about it I changed my password, and everything seemed to be ok.

Now Facebook wants to see a copy of my ID before they’ll reinstate my account.

The thing is I REALLY don’t want to give my drivers license out, especially since I’m not even positive that the message requesting to see it was even sent from Facebook.

Is there some way to get my Facebook account reinstated with just my cell phone number? Thanks.
