Q&A: How do I switch from the desktop site to the mobile site on Twitter?

Posted on April 20, 2018

twitter-logoQuestion from Neilen G.:  I have a fairly small 11.6 inch laptop that I carry with me when I travel (and I travel frequently for work). I’ve found that it’s the perfect size to use when I’m on a plane.

Unfortunately, I also have an issue with my vision. Nothing major, but it’s bad enough to cause problems for me at times.

I usually don’t have a problem reading the screen when I’m using Twitter, but sometimes at night when my eyes are tired I find it hard to make out some of the text.

I tried typing Ctrl+ to make the text bigger but it ended up pushing some of the content off the sides of the screen.

I read somewhere that switching to the mobile Twitter site when my eyes are tired will make the text easier to read, but it didn’t give instructions for making the switch.

I guess my question is can you tell me how to switch to the Twitter mobile site on my laptop (and how to switch back when I need to)?

Do use Yahoo Mail or AOL Mail? If so, new changes to their TOS totally trash your privacy.

Posted on April 20, 2018

If you use Yahoo Mail or AOL Mail (or both) you should know that the latest changes they’ve made to their Terms of Service (TOS) completely trashes your privacy.

Both of those services are now owned by Oath, the media division of Verizon.

Oath has merged their two TOSs into one and made some pretty disturbing changes in the process.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Is it worthwhile to double the RAM when buying a new laptop?

Posted on April 20, 2018

(#ad)

Question from Ashley L:  I’m getting ready to buy a new laptop and the model I’m wanting comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM but I can add 4GB more (for 8GB total) for an extra $75.

I have two questions for you concerning the RAM options:

1 – Do you think doubling the RAM to 8GB is worth it for Windows 10?

2 – Is $75 a reasonable price to pay for an extra 4GB?

Thanks in advance for your advice. It’ll be a big help!

Q&A: How do I prevent a folder from freezing up while I’m trying to open it?

Posted on April 19, 2018

Question from Paula:  My computer is a Dell desktop running Windows 10 and I’m having an irritating problem with it.

I have a folder that I’ve been using for months and all of a sudden it gets stuck when I try to open it. It just freezes up for a while and displays the message “Working on it…“.

If I wait long enough the folder will eventually open and I can use it like I always have, but it seems to take longer and longer every day. It took well over a minute to open a little while ago.

How can I stop this folder from freezing up on me? All the other folders on my computer open just fine.
