My favorite mobile web browsers for Apple iOS and Android devices

Posted on October 21, 2019

As you probably know, choosing a good web browser can make the difference between a great Internet user experience and a poor one.

If you access the Internet on a computer, you probably have a favorite browser that you prefer to use over all the others.

But that being said, there’s a good chance that you’re still using the slow, bloated stock browser that came pre-loaded on your mobile device when you’re away from your home or office.

Just as with your computer-based browser, a great mobile browser can really enhance your Internet activities by a huge margin.

If you have already selected a favorite mobile browser, you surely know exactly what I mean. If not, I’ll tell you about my favorites so you can try them out for yourself.  [Read more…]

Q&A: Will CCleaner run on a Macbook Pro?

Posted on October 19, 2019

ccleaner-logoQuestion from Helen S.:  Hi Rick. Based upon your recommendation, I’ve been using CCleaner to keep my Windows laptop cleaned out and optimized for some time now. I really appreciate you telling us about things like this!

My daughter just bought a brand new MacBook Pro (#ad) and I was wondering if CCleaner will work on it too? If it will I’m planning to buy her a copy and help her install it while she’s in for the holidays.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Q&A: Is it true that Macs can run ‘unapproved’ software in the latest version of macOS?

Posted on October 16, 2019

Question from Peter:  Lots of programs that I’ve downloaded to my Mac in the past failed to run because they weren’t “approved” by Apple (whatever that means).

Today I heard the tail end of a tech show I listen to on talk radio and they said something about a change in the latest version of macOS that’ll let you run unapproved software.

I’m wondering if this is true because after I got home I tried running a couple of programs that I downloaded a while back and they still won’t run for me.

What’s the story?

Posted on October 15, 2019

#ad

A while back I wrote a post about how Amazon customers can save 3% on every purchase simply by using their free Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card. (#ad)

That’s a great way to save some serious cash if you prefer buying with a credit card. One of life’s true no-brainers!

But that being said, not everyone wants to use a credit card for one reason or another.

Luckily, there’s another simple way to give yourself an automatic discount when you’re shopping at Amazon…  [Read more…]

Q&A: Will Office 2019 be the last desktop version of Microsoft Office?

Posted on October 14, 2019

Question from Leslie:  It seems like Microsoft is really pushing customers to sign up for a subscription to Office 365 instead of buying a copy of Office 2019.

Do you think they’re planning to stop selling desktop versions of MS Office and force everyone to start using Office 365 instead?

The reason I’m asking is I just bought a new PC and I’m trying to decide whether to buy Office 2019 or sign up for Office 365.

I don’t want to buy Office 2019 if they’re just going to abandon it like they do older versions of Windows.
