Q&A: Should the battery in a new laptop fully charged before using it?

Posted on December 8, 2021

Question from Brenda:  I just bought my son a new laptop for his birthday. As I was paying for it the cashier told me I need to let the battery charge to 100% before I let my son start using it.

In the past I have always just unboxed my new laptops and plugged them in and started using them immediately, and as far as I know there was never any problem.

Do you think I really need to charge the battery before I give it to him?  [Read more…]

Q&A: How can I delete an unused Facebook account?

Posted on December 5, 2021

Question from Darren:  I made up several silly Facebook accounts when I was younger claiming to be in all type of professions, just pretending as a kid will do.

Anyway, I’m an adult now and I’d like to get rid of those accounts but I don’t remember the passwords.

I was young and stupid then and every time I forgot a password I’d just make another Facebook account.

The only account I want to keep is the one I’m using now. Is there any way to delete the old unused accounts but keep my current one?  [Read more…]

The good news is you don’t need to use a password manager in order to create extremely secure (and unique) passwords for each of your online accounts – and remember easily them!

This post explains how to do just that.  [Read more…]

Posted on December 3, 2021

Question from Rhonda:  I bought a new laptop a while back and my son installed DriverUpdate by Slimware Utilities and several other programs on it to keep it running smoothly.

Everything was fine until the other day when I downloaded Malwarebytes.

Every time I run Malwarebytes it flags DriverUpdate as malware and tries to remove it.

Why is it doing this? Is DriverUpdate really malware?  [Read more…]
