Posted on March 15, 2023

If you recently updated your Edge browser you might have noticed that Microsoft has placed a new ‘Discover’ button in the top-right corner of the browser window.

Apparently there are lots of folks who aren’t too keen on using this new button, and several of them have asked me if there’s any way to remove it from the browser interface.  [Read more…]

Posted on March 14, 2023

Question from Gordon: I have a very simple question for you, Rick: Is it legal to sell free software?

I’m asking because I just bought a DVD off of eBay that’s packed with tons of software programs for troubleshooting and maintaining a PC, but I have just found out that ALL of it is freeware that’s distributed under the GNU GPL License.  [Read more…]

Question from Kendell:  Hi, Rick. I’m hoping you can recommend a good web hosting plan for my blog.

Posted on March 12, 2023

Question from Kathleen:  I was recently tasked to take over for the lady who had been writing our company’s blog and I’m trying to learn all I can about how WordPress works.

Although I’ve never blogged before I believe I’m beginning to get a handle on things. But one thing is very confusing to me.

I keep seeing references to “posts” and “pages” like they are different things. I always thought they were the same thing.

Am I missing something?

Rick’s answer:  I can certainly understand your confusion, Kathleen. Most of us think of anything that’s found on the Internet at a specific URL as a web page, and on the most basic level that’s correct. But in WordPress things are a little different.  [Read more…]
