Q&A: How can I connect my new iPad Pro to my projector?

Posted on August 11, 2019

(#ad)

Question from Don H.:  For a while now I’ve been using an HP laptop and an Epson VS240 projector to display presentations to my Art History students.

The laptop’s hard drive died on me a few days ago and I don’t plan on having it replaced.

What I’d like to do is use my new iPad Pro and Apple’s Keynote presentation app to send video to the projector.

The problem is the projector has an HDMI port but the iPad Pro has a USB-C port.

Is there a simple way to connect the iPad Pro to my projector?

Q&A: Why does the light on my mouse stay lit when I shut down my computer?

Posted on August 9, 2019

Question from Kelly E.:  I just bought a new computer and there’s one thing about it that has me puzzled.

When I shut the computer down (not put it to sleep, but actually shut it down) the little light on the mouse stays lit.

Why is this happening? I’ve never seen it before. Is there some way to turn it off?

Q&A: Is there a way to display a shared Facebook post without having to scroll through the person’s Timeline to find it?

Posted on August 2, 2019

Question from Gabrielle H.:  I have a question about Facebook that I’m hoping you can can answer for me.

Whenever I post something on my Facebook page and people share that post, Facebook lists all the people that have shared it.

I always try to thank every person individually for sharing my posts, but to do that I have to go to each person’s Timeline and scroll through it until I find the post of mine they shared.

That’s very time-consuming because some of those people put up a lot of posts!

I don’t have this problem when people share things from my personal Timeline, just when they share something from my page’s Timeline.

Is there any way to go directly to a shared Facebook post without having to scroll through the person’s Timeline to find it?

Q&A: How can I disable the Wi-Fi network on a Linksys WRT54G router?

Posted on July 10, 2019

Question from Artie L.:  I recently bought a used Linksys WRT54G router for a whopping $2 at a yard sale.

It seems to be working ok because it lights up and I can see a new Wi-Fi network on my laptop after I turn it on.

I’d like to disable the existing Wi-Fi network and use this router as a 4 port switch.

The problem is I didn’t get any kind of documentation with the router so I don’t have a clue about how to disable the Wi-Fi.

Question from Brad:  Hi Rick. I have a question for you and I hope you won’t mind answering it.
