How to prevent keyloggers from stealing your passwords and financial information

Posted on June 15, 2016

zemanaKeyloggers are an especially insidious form of malware that work in the background as you use your computer.

They do their nasty work by stealthily monitoring your keystrokes as you type. They then send a digital “copy” of your keystrokes “back home” to a hacker.

Once he has your stolen info in hand, the hacker can easily use it to steal your identity or log in to to your financial accounts and steal your money.

A thorough malware scan and removal process like the one detailed in this post can remove most keyloggers from your system, but some of the newer keylogger malware out there can be very hard to detect and remove.

That’s why it’s always good to have a second layer of protection against this insidious form of malware running on your PC at all times.  [Read more…]

Lock down your PC with these essential Windows 10 privacy settings

Did you update your PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10 only to decide later that you’d like to go back to Window 7?

As you probably know, you can easily roll your Windows 10 installation back to Windows 7 if you want to, but there’s a catch…

You’ll only have 30 days to roll your system back to Windows 7 if you decide that you don’t want Windows 10.

If you wait longer than a month your computer’s original Windows 7 license will be permanently assigned to your new Windows 10 installation.

That being said, if you have already missed the 30 day roll-back window you can still install Windows 7 onto your machine, but it’ll cost you a few bucks.  [Read more…]

How to prevent Windows 10 from automatically downloading Windows Updates

Posted on April 13, 2016

disable-automatic-windows-updates-windows-10In case you haven’t noticed, Microsoft really wants your PC to download and install all available Windows Updates automatically.

Personally, I don’t mind that because I always keep a current backup of my PC’s hard drive on hand in case something goes wrong.

But that being said, I know that plenty of other folks prefer having Windows simply notify them that updates are ready, then download and install them manually at a time of their choosing. I totally understand that.

If you happen to prefer downloading and installing your Windows Updates manually, you can easily force Windows 10 to accept your decision and give you that freedom. Just follow the instructions below:  [Read more…]
