wd-black2-dual-driveHave you ever wished you could add a solid state drive (SSD) to your laptop and keep your internal hard drive too? As you probably know, that can be a bit impractical since most laptops come with just one 2.5 inch drive bay.

But now you can accomplish the same thing with an ingenious new combo drive from Western Digital. That’s right, you can now replace your laptop’s existing hard drive with both a 120GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive – and they’ll both fit into the same bay!

Western Digital has just released the Black2 Dual Drive, a revolutionary combo drive that contains both a 120GB SSD and a 1TB hard disk in the same standard-size 2.5 inch form-factor case.

The WD Black2 Dual Drive is not a hybrid drive. It is actually two separate and independent drives that have separate partitions and drive letters. You can install Windows and your most-used programs on the SSD and place the rest of your programs and all your data files on the hard disk.

Although the WD Black2 is tailor-made for laptops, it works just fine in desktop PCs as well. All you’ll need is a 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch drive adapter bracket.
