picasa-logoDo you (or someone you know) use Google’s Picasa? If so, there’s a bit of news that you need to know about…

Google is planning to stop supporting the Picasa desktop application on March 15, 2016, and they’ll be shutting down their Picasa Web Albums service on the first day of May.

If you use Picasa Web Albums to host your photos and videos, you’ll find that Google has already copied them over to Google Photos. All you have to do is log in with your Google credentials and you’ll find them waiting there for you.

You’ll be able to continue using the Picasa desktop application after March 15 if you want to. Google will no longer deliver security and feature updates after that time, but the program itself will still work just fine.

This post on Google’s Picasa blog has more information about Picasa’s impending shutdown.
