windows-8-logoIf you’re one of the relatively few seasoned Windows users who have made the switch to Windows 8, you have probably already noticed that Microsoft’s Music App is now the default player for MP3s as well as most types of video files. But by changing a single setting you can have your music and videos open in Windows Media Player instead.

Of course there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having the Music App set as your system’s default media player, but most people (myself included) tend to prefer Windows Media Plater. If you’re one of them too, you can follow these steps to set Windows Media Player as the default app:

1 – Go to the Start Screen and type the word default. A list of search results will open up.

2 – Click Default programs.

3 –  Click Set your default programs.

4 – Select Windows Media Player from the list, then click Set this program as default.

5 – Click Ok.

From now on your music and video files will automatically open in Windows Media Player.
