rapidshare-logoThe popular file sharing service RapidShare has announced that they’ll be shutting down for good at the end of next month.

That means if you have a RapidShare account containing files you don’t want to lose, you’ll need to retrieve them by March 31. After that date the RapidShare website and all of their user accounts will no longer be accessible.

To RapidShare’s credit, they are allowing plenty of time for users to retrieve their files. Other companies have been known to simply go offline with no warning when they shut down. I’m glad that isn’t the case here.

Bottom line: Retrieve any files from your RapidShare account ASAP in order to avoid losing them forever.
