Question from Darla:  I went online to search for a new wall charger for my phone and iPad and I noticed that some of them were labeled as GaN chargers.

I had never seen that before (but it’s been years since I bought a new charger).

What does the GaN mean? [Read more…]

Q&A: Why does my new computer keep the wrong time?

Posted on July 8, 2024

Question from Kevin: Hi, Rick. I recently bought a HP laptop running Windows 11, and ever since I first brought it home it’s been keeping the wrong time.

For example, my phone’s user manual says it supports both Bluetooth and WiFi wireless connectivity.

What is Bluetooth and how is it different from WiFi?  [Read more…]

Posted on July 6, 2024

Question from Harris:  The battery in my three year old smartphone won’t hold a charge anymore.

I found a replacement battery online but it said I’ll have to disassemble the phone in order to remove the old battery and replace it with the new one.

The replacement battery comes with the tools needed to install the new battery but the video showing how it’s done has me thinking it’s way beyond my skill level.  [Read more…]
