“Mobile-Friendly” sites will soon rank higher in Google’s Mobile Search Results

google-logoGoogle has just announced that they will soon start giving priority to websites that are mobile-friendly in their Mobile Search Results.

This means sites that typically receive lots of traffic from Google’s Mobile Search will probably see a drastic decrease in that traffic once the change takes effect on April 21, 2015. If you have a website or blog that isn’t mobile friendly, you’ll basically have until that date to get that taken care of.

If you have a WordPress blog you can easily make it mobile friendly simply by installing a plugin such as WPtouch Mobile or WP Mobile Edition. I use both of these plugins and they work quite well.

If your site is straight HTML or based on a non-WordPress CMS you might have your work cut out for you. I guess that’s why Google is giving everyone almost two months warning.

Bottom line: Make your website or blog mobile-friendly by April 21 in order to avoid a potentially drastic drop in traffic from Google Mobile Search.
