maxivista-logoQuestion from Jim L.:  I recently bought a new iPad Mini because I needed a tablet with cellular connectivity.

What I’d like to do going forward is use my old Wi-Fi only iPad II as a 2nd monitor for my Dell laptop. Is that possible? And if it is, how expensive would it be?

Rick’s answer:  Jim, it is entirely possible to use your iPad as a 2nd monitor for your laptop. It’s also easy to set up, and quite inexpensive.

There are actually free apps that do this, but the one that I recommend costs about $10. It’s called MaxiVista, and it’ll createa a video connection between your laptop and iPad via Wi-Fi. There are no wires to connect. Just make sure that both devices are connected to a Wi-Fi network, then run the app!

You can read more about MaxiVista right here.

I hope this helps Jim. Good luck!
