The quality of the sound emitted from the tiny speakers in most mobile devices leaves a lot to be desired, especially on budget model devices.
A good set of headphones or earbuds can help tremendously, but there are times when you need to use an honest-to-goodness real speaker system.
A couple of days ago I received an Inateck BP2001 Bluetooth Stereo Speaker for review, so I decided to check it out.
The first thing I noticed upon opening the box was how attractive and ergonomic this speaker is. It’s small enough to be unobtrusive, yet large enough to hold a set of fairly substantial speakers.
To get started, I connected the speaker to a USB 3.0 port on my computer to charge the built-in rechargeable lithium battery. The battery must have come from the factory with a pretty decent charge because it didn’t take long at all for it to charge up to 100%.
After the battery had fully charged, I turned on the Bluetooth setting on an HTC 4G smartphone. The phone did a scan for available bluetooth devices and “found” the Inateck speaker right away. I tapped the button to pair the speaker to the phone, and the two paired up almost immediately.
I played a couple of music videos from Youtube, followed by a couple of videos that were already stored on the phone. Let me tell you, the sound quality from this speaker was excellent. Much better than what I had expected in fact.
Next, I tested the speaker by pairing it with both an ancient Samsung Galaxy S smart phone and a new Dell laptop, and the results were equally impressive.
As a final test I plugged the speakers directly into my desktop PC’s audio output jack using the included audio cable. I found the audio cable to be a little on the short side which limits your options for placement of the speaker, but the sound quality once again was amazing.
I was equally impressed with the volume that this speaker is capable of producing. As a matter of fact, when I connected it to each of the devices mentioned above I had to lower the volume to make listening to the music comfortable.
But even at the maximum volume there was no discernible degradation of the sound quality, and I heard no distortion whatsoever. Very impressive for a 10 watt stereo speaker system!
Overall, I am quite impressed with this Inateck speaker. If you’re looking for a high-quality, yet very affordable bluetooth stereo speaker for your mobile device (or even just a great speaker system for your PC), I strongly recommend that you give this one serious consideration.
