Display notifications from your Android device on your computer screen

Posted on December 3, 2014

desktop-notifications-logoHave you ever found yourself in a situation similar to the following?

You’re expecting an important text message that you really can’t afford to miss, but you’re at work and you simply don’t have time to pull your phone out of your pocket or purse every time it buzzes to see if it’s the message you’ve been waiting for.

Well, now you don’t have to.

Desktop Notifications is a free Android app / Google Chrome or Firefox browser extension combo that lets you display all of your Android device’s notifications right in the corner of your web browser!

Once you have installed the app on your smart phone or tablet and the extension on your browser, you’ll be able to see at a glance who just left you a message or voicemail. If the notification is for an event that is of no immediate importance, simply leave your phone stashed away and keep working until your important message comes in.

Setting up the Desktop Notifications app is easy. Here’s how:

1 – Install the app from the Google Play Store onto your Android device.

2 – Install the companion browser extension on your PC for either Chrome or Firefox (or both).

3 – Enter the unique identifier that you’ll be given for your Android Device.

That’s all there is to it. From now on, every notification that pops up on your smart phone or tablet will also pop up in the little box in the corner of your PC’s web browser window!
