Review: Dell Inspiron 15.6″ FHD Touchscreen Signature Laptop

Posted on February 4, 2019

These days you can buy entry-level Windows laptops for as little as $200, and those machines are actually pretty good for general Internet use.

But if you need to do more than just check out your favorite websites and catch up on Facebook you really need something a bit more powerful.

The latest Dell Inspiron 15.6″ FHD Touchscreen Signature Laptop (#ad) has everything you’ll need in a general-purpose machine, with the added bonus of a powerful Intel Core i5-6200U CPU. Best of all, it’s affordable.

This laptop comes with all the following:

  • 15.6 in Full HD LED-Backlit Touch Screen with Truelife (1920 x 1080)
  • Intel HD Graphics 520 w/1 HDMI 1.4 port
  • 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6200U Dual-Core Processor
  • 8GB DDR3L 1600 MHz RAM
  • 1TB Hard Drive
  • DVD +/- RW Optical Drive
  • 802.11ac/a/b/g/n (Miracast enabled) Wireless Networking Adapter
  • 1 USB 3.0 Port
  • 2 USB 2.0 Ports
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • SD Card Reader
  • Waves MaxxAudio Pro Sound System
  • Intel RealSense 3D Camera
  • Backlit Keyboard
  • Windows 10 Home

As you can see, this is a well equipped laptop that offers a good balance of power and features for the money.

I did find this machine to be a little heavy as modern laptops go, and the battery life isn’t as long as some of the other laptops in its class. I recommend that you take those issues into consideration if you plan use this as a travel laptop.

I really like the screen on this machine. The text and images are sharp and bright, and overall it seems to be very easy on the eyes, even after long periods of use.

The keyboard is what I would consider average for a full-size laptop in this price range.

I found the touch pad to be a little persnickety as it sometimes takes an extra tap to get a “click” to register, but to me that’s really no big deal since I prefer using a travel mouse anyway.

Bottom line: This is a good lower mid-range laptop that offers plenty of power and features for the money. That being said, if you plan to travel frequently and use it on your trips you might be better served with something a bit lighter and with better battery life.
