Q&A: Why can’t I send a message to my friend on Facebook?

facebook-logoQuestion from Rishabh R.:  Yesterday I was chatting with my friend, and after our conversation was over, we both logged out.

But today when I logged into my Facebook account and opened the message column and tried to message her again, it showed an error.

Our previous conversation is there, but my friend’s name is in black colour. When I tried to click on her name, it wouldn’t click. The same problem is not happening with my other friends. So I just wanna know have I done something wrong? Or maybe my friend has?

Rick’s answer:  Hi Rishabh. Based upon your description of the problem, it sounds like your friend has blocked you. If that’s indeed the case, her profile won’t show up in the list of search results if you type her name into the search box.

Also, if you have been blocked her posts won’t show up in your news feed (and your posts won’t show up in hers). It will basically seem like the two of you are no longer on Facebook – but only to one another.

I would suggest asking a mutual friend to send her a message and ask if she blocked you. If she did, you most likely won’t receive a reply.

I hope this helps Rishabh. Good luck.
