How to tell Verizon to stop tracking your every move while you’re using the Internet

Posted on April 2, 2015

verizon-logoAre you a Verizon Wireless customer?

If so, did you know they secretly use cookies to track every move you make while using the Internet on their network with a mobile device?

Well, they do, and those cookies are actually “supercookies” that can not be removed!

Until recently the only way to prevent those insidious tracking supercookies from being placed on your devices was to use a third-party web browser that blocks them, but now Verizon has finally started allowing their users to opt out of the tracking program by changing a setting on their website. Here’s how:

1 – Visit this page to log into the “Privacy” section of the Verizon website.

2 – Find the Relevant Mobile Advertising section and opt out of the program.

If you would prefer to opt out of the program by phone, you can do so by calling Verizon Customer Service at 866-211-0874.

Note: Your device(s) will no longer receive Verizon’s supercookies after you have successfully opted out of the Relevant Mobile Advertising program, but that will not prevent you from seeing mobile ads. It will only prevent the ads you see from being tailored to fit your Internet browsing history.

That’s all there is to it! Good luck!
